Travel Immunisation

We are no longer able to provide a private travel service but can administer the free NHS vaccines.  Patients will need to access appropriate advice from a travel centre first.

Community Nurses

Our community nurse team provide nursing care, advice and equipment to patients unable to attend the surgery. They can be contacted through the Care Coordination Centre 0300 247 0200

Ante Natal Care

The Practice provides shared care during pregnancy with our Community Midwife Team. 

Health Visitors

Health visitors offer advice on a wide range of children’s health problems and issues including immunisation.  They can be contacted on

Complementary Medicine

Combe Down Surgery accommodates a number of independent private services such as Acupuncture, Chiropody and Physiotherapy. 

Repeat Medication Requests

When ordering repeat medication we need the request in writing, we cannot accept a request over the phone. Patients are encouraged to sign up to request their medication online or via the NHS App.

Please allow 48hrs to process the prescription request.

Hours of Opening

The Surgery is open

Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm

and extended access is provided Saturday 8:00am to 12pm.

Appointments

All surgery attendance is by appointment only.

For GP and Nurse Practitioner appointments a triage form will need to be completed online.

Same day appointments are available for any urgent problems and will be allocated by the triaging GP as required.

Telephone consultations are available and avoid the need for an appointment or a home visit. 

If you are too ill to attend the surgery, please complete a triage form as early as possible, preferably before 10.00am so that we can arrange a home visit. You may be visited by one of our paramedics.

All nurse appointments can be arranged over the telephone.

In life-threatening emergencies such as severe chest pains, collapse, unconsciousness and severe bleeding call 999 immediately.

Out of Hours Cover

When the Surgery is closed after 6pm and on weekends we are covered by the

Out of Hours Service.

Confidentiality and Access to Records

All Surgery staff deal with medical records in total confidentiality.  You have the right to see your records if you wish. Access is available through online services and the NHS app.

Nurse Practitioners

Our Nurse Practitioners are able to diagnose, manage and prescribe for common health conditions, and works closely with the doctors.

Practice Nurses

Our nurses offer a wide range of care for diabetes, asthma, heart disease, blood pressure, healthy living, HRT and contraception; as well as annual checks for heart disease, immunisations, cervical smears, general health promotion and dressings.

Health Care Assistants

Our HCAs perform blood tests, blood pressure checks, ECGs, injections, health checks and some provide wound management.

Physiotherapy

We have a physiotherapist based at the surgery once a week who can help with flair ups of known conditions, please call to book.

Stop Smoking

For those who wish to stop smoking we can refer you for one to one support and medication where appropriate or you can go to:

Weight Loss

The surgery offers a number of referral options for patients who need to lose weight.

Pharmacy

Provides local confidential, expert advice and treatment for a range of common illnesses. We can refer you to a pharmacy who is able to prescribe medications for common conditions such urine infections and conjunctivitis.

We also have an in-house pharmacy team who can deal with medication reviews and queries.
